Drooling over the Mustang!

This Cessna Mustang, reg N1749L, was busy at Wellington today. I saw it depart and return a few hours later [This may be the Wellington-Queenstown-Wellington trip referred to in the MRC Aviation blog].

The Cessna Mustang is quite possibly the best looking executive jet I have ever seen. It has smooth clean lines and looks like it was designed by an artist, as much as an aircraft designer. Nice! If I ever do go and get a CPL/ATPL, I'd much rather fly something like this than a Boeing or an Airbus :-) Absolutely stunning!

Pah! Give me a Gulfstream V any day. Nothing quite as majestic. This thing does look kinda cute though. :-)

Fair enough mate! I'll stick with the Mustang. At least we wouldn't be fighting over which aircraft to fly! ha ha a

I've got a copy of an Aussie article where the reviewer raved about the Mustang and proclaimed it to be a true single pilot VLJ. It does look kind of small though.

I think that "VLJ" is the key point. Certainly there does not appear to be stand-up head room, but a private jet cruising at 250 kts does sound awefully attractive :-)

I got to see it land and takeoff from Hamilton airport over the weekend. They say it's approach speeds are similar to that of a prop twin and they are not wrong, I saw our Twin Comanche land later on and they were going about the same speed on final. Other than that the two other standout features were its size and how quiet the turbofans are.
