Hello, my long lost friend! I'm getting old!

What follows is a picture of a Piper PA38-112 Tomahawk in Canterbury Aero Club colours. Nothing too exciting about that perhaps, but ZK-RPD is one of the PA38's that I learned to fly in. I last flew this on 28 August 1999 with my then instructor [Hello Jason!] up at Ardmore Flying School [not sure, but I think it had a blue/white paint scheme back then].

Ouch! I've been flying for over 10 years now [28 February 1998 was my first flight]. I really am getting old!

You're doing better than me - the first two planes I learned in got demolished in various accidents and I think are both in Aussie now...

Hey! It's Rapid! One of the Tomahawks I fly almost daily at the International Aviation Academy of New Zealand. Beautifully smooth aircraft to fly, it's probably my favourite one of the lot!

Nice to hear from someone else who has flown her, and from a 'veteran' such as yourself! :P I've only been flying a matter of weeks, with 15 hours under my belt!

Hi Tom,

Yeah, it's a nice plane, glad that you like it. IAANZ is a good place to learn - hope that you enjoy it.

Not sure about that "veteran" part of it.... I'm older than you are, but... :-)

Chris - stop crashing planes! Oh - it wasn't you? :-)
