WAC Open Day 2009 #5: Airport Fire Service

In the not flying, but still very cool basket was the Wellington International Airport Fire Service. Present for the day was one of the airport's Stryker fire trucks, a rescue catamaran and a support vehicle. In addition, another fire truck came over several times during the day to put on a demonstration of their "water dispensing" capabilities [photos below].

This was just one of the many examples were we received assistance of the airport company for the day, which also included provision of all of the safety/security barriers and assistance with setup/take down. Thanks!

Wellington International Airport has water at both ends of the runway... it's just in case someone ends up having to swim home :-(
