RNZAF 75th Airshow: Grumman TBM 3E Avenger

Newly arrived in New Zealand, based at Ohakea, and displayed during the airshow was a Grumman TBM 3E Avenger. As best I can tell, at this stage it is still on the Australian register as VH-TBM [if anyone has an update on this, please let em know]. The aircraft is owned by Brendan Deere [who also owns a Spitfire, also resident at Ohakea].

I have heard rumour that it will be repainted in the original RNZAF colours at some stage.

For values of 'rumour' that include the owner saying on his website that he intended for it to happen before the Ohakea show. The ferry flight was delayed, and he didn't have time. Note that this is not an ex-RNZAF machine, but it was in RNZAF colours (Fred Ladd's 'Plonky') before going to Australia.

Hi Errol,

Thanks for the update. I hadn't seen the owner's website, so glad it was more than a rumour!

Cheers,

Rodney

It's still on the Aussie Register... CAA are being slow on processing the NZ registration!
