Classic Fighters 2009 #10: Douglas DC3 Dakota

The Douglas DC3 is very recognisable as both a World War 2 military transport aircraft and as a post-war civilian airliner. This particular aircraft was one of two DC3's at the airshow [I'm not sure, but I think that the other aircraft was ZK-AMY], but was the only one I saw flying.
This Dakota used to be painted in a camouflage scheme with invasion stripes, but is now painted in a original RNZAF 42 Squadron scheme which looks very smart. One important function of the aircraft at the airshow was to act as the drop plan for Kiwi Blue the RNZAF parachute display team [more on that in the next post].
