Islamic Republic of Iran [Meraj Air] at Wellington!

Today's "very interesting, very rare, very exciting" series of photos is of an Airbus A340-313, EP-AJA, operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran/ Meraj Air!!!

I think the last A340 at Wellington would have been a Gulf Air flight way back in November 2009 [someone correct me please if I'm wrong]! Aside from that, I'm not sure when the last Iranian-registered aircraft would have flown into New Zealand.

Anyway, on to the photos. I took a lot of them, but these are some of the best I have. I might publish a few more later on...

  5. My daughter saw this roll in while we were eating at the Spruce Lyall Bay. She was looking past me and said Dad, A plane from the Islamic Republic of Iran just went past the window.. I laughed and said yeah right. Turned around and there it was. It went to the very end of the runway and turned around to follow a lead vehicle back to the terminal. Impressive sight I have to say.

Hello earlier Anonymous': I hear it might depart Monday sometime. It was certainly a surprise to see it pop up on the flight tracking software, and good to see it here for a visit!
