RNZAF at Wellington

Here are some pictures of two RNZAF planes at Wellington. The first is of a C130H and the remaining 3 are of a B757. If the B757 looks as though it is climbing steeply, then it's probably because it is.... ahh for a lightly loaded, powerful aircraft to play with! :-) Once again, the B757 photos were taken from the hill in Strathmore.

More from the new vantage point

Here are the next in my series from Strathmore... In this case, an Air New Zealand A320 is taking off from Wellington. Obviously the 10x optical zoom helps :-) but it is still impressive to see.

A new vantage point

I went for a wander the other day, and found another vantage point for photos of operations at Wellington Airport. It's up on a hill in the suburb of Strathmore and comes complete with an old gun emplacement [from where many of the photos were taken].

The first in a series of photos from this point show the airport itself. Top to bottom are the airport, the eastern apron and a closeup of the new RESA being built at the southern end.

Something different

Here are a couple of aircraft I snapped at Wellington recently. The first is a Socato TB-10. The other is a Nanchang in the middle on a go-around:

Dassault Falcon 900 EX

Here are two pictures of a Dassault Falcon 900 EX at Wellington. Unfortunately the weather was not great, so the pictures don't have great contrast...

Origin Pacific passenger services are gone....

A couple of days ago, Origin Pacific ceased all passenger services, basically bringing the airline to a halt. Apparently their freight operation is still going [although I can't be sure of that]. It's always sad when an airline goes under, although it's bound to happen from time to time.

Origin Pacific flew BAe Jetstream 31/32 and 41 aircraft, along with Metroliners. Here's a couple of the Jetstream pictures I've collected from around Wellington over the past few months...
