Cessna 510 Citation Mustang

I'm really in catch up mode now, with another photo from a couple of weekends ago.

This one is of Skyline Aviation's Cessna 510 Citation Mustang, ZK-VXM. I reckon these are great looking aircraft, but maybe just add some "teeth" on the front for a bit more "attitude"? 😂

Airplanes!

Not normally something to get excited about, but with the recent loosening of rules, this was the first day I have been able to get out and see a couple of aircraft flying around.

First up is an Air New Zealand-operated Bombardier DHC-8-311, ZK-XXX. As has been noted elsewhere, these are now using Air NZ callsigns, so instead of Link 1234, it's now New Zealand 1234 Lima [and ex Mount Cook flights being NZ1234 Mike].

The second aircraft os a Cessna 510 Citation Mustang, ZK-VXM. This aircraft is operated by Skyline Aviation of Hawkes Bay. Given the restrictions on travel, my guess is it would have been operating an essential services charter or air ambulance.

Lastly, it's great to be out and seeing some aviation happening! Hopefully it won't be too long until I can get back into the cockpit myself. I'm sure the Nanchang is feeling a bit lonely these days...!

Gulfstream G650 at Wellington

A couple of weeks ago [I'm in catch up mode!], this really nice Austrian registered Gulfstream G650, OE-LTF, was parked up at Wellington. The aircraft is operated by a company called Avcon Jet.

Also at Wellington, but this time departing, was this Cessna 510 Citation Mustang, ZK-VXM, which is operated by Skyline Aviation. Not a great photo, but it looks great!

Beechcraft Beechjet 400A

Last weekend I saw this Beechcraft Beechjet 400A, ZK-NXJ departing. This aircraft is operated by Skyline Aviation as an air ambulance. This is an awesome looking aircraft!

VIP arrival at Wellington

As I was leaving for home today, I noticed a large number of motorcycle police hanging around the Execujet hanger. On further investigation, there were other Police and crown limos waiting inside the Execujet hanger.

After a bit of a wait, this Beech 200C, ZK-PLK arrived. This aircraft is operated by Skyline Aviation of a Hawkes Bay address. This flight itself arrived from the South Island.

Very shortly after arrival, the appropriate civil and military officials assembled and the passengers on the aircraft went into the wait crown limos to be whisked off. I'm not sure who the VIPs were, but clearly important enough to warrant a significant welcome...

Cessna C510 Citation Mustang

Today's photo is from last weekend and is the arrival of a Cessna 510 Citation Mustang, ZK-YDZ. This aircraft is now operated by Skyline Aviation of a Napier address, having had a change of operator to Skyline in late July 2016.

Other aircraft from Sunday

Prior to my night flying last Sunday night, I was able to photograph a couple of lighter aircraft at Wellington.

The first is a Piper PA32R-301 Saratoga, ZK-ZIG, which is operated by Golden Bay Air of Takaka. The pilot dropped off three passengers at the Aero Club instead of the usual Eastern Apron gate.

The second aircraft was a Skyline Aviation-operated Kawasaki BK117 B2, ZK-IBK. This is a rescue helicopter/ air ambulance, although apart from dropping in the refuel, I'm not sure what it was up to.

A Starship enterprise landing at Wellington?

Well, maybe not and that's as good as the trek jokes get... awful I suppose!

What we have is a Beech B300 Super King Air, ZK-SSH, which is operated by Skyline Aviation. This aircraft is kitted as an air ambulance, and is involved in transferring younger patients, as shown by the Starship Children's Hospital livery [does anyone know if it is used exclusively for young people?].

I guess if you're going for a ride in an air ambulance, it can't hurt to have a cool paint job :-)

Last up is a Boeing 737-838, ZK-ZQD, operated by Jetconnect [Qantas], which is about to touch down.

Boeing, Beech and a Gulfstream

I really like being away from work for a few days... a pity I need to go back tomorrow, but it's only for one day then a weekend, so that's OK.

Pictures from today's visit to the airport start off with a Fiji Airways' operated Boeing 737-7X2, DQ-FJF. This aircraft has been around for a few years - in fact I first saw it taking off from Wellington wearing the old "Air Pacific" livery back in July 2011.

Next up is a regular visitor, a Beech C90A, ZK-ZZA. This aircraft is operated by Skyline Aviation of Napier as an Air Ambulance.

Last up is the Gulfstream GVI, ZK-KFB, which is operated by Execujet New Zealand on behalf of it's rather famous owner... For some reason, I always think of deep-fried chicken when I see this rego... :-)

Quiet at Wellington for a good reason

The good reason is that almost every one of the Club's aircraft headed off to Masterton for a day out and a bit of practice. Therefore, there was nothing much GA-wise to see.

I did get two photos though. The first is a Kawasaki BK117 B-2, ZK-IBK, rescue helicopter which is operated by Skyline Aviation of Hawkes Bay.

The second is a British Aerospace Jetstream J32, ZK-VAI, and is registered to Vincent Aviation (in receivership).

Happy New Year!

Happy new year and welcome to 2013!

In this first post for 2013, I've included the last photos taken from 2012. These were all taken at the Wellington Aero Club [a great place to take that first step or to continue your flying!] yesterday afternoon.

The first is the Nanchang CJ6, ZK-MAO, looking great in its new coat of paint [it probably helps that it was cleaned earlier that day as well!]. The second is Piper PA28-161 Warrior, ZK-MBG, which I last flew a few days again. Finally we have Beech C90A, ZK-SKL, registered to Skyline Aviation.

Today's light aircraft

It was another awesome weather day today, so the Club's fleet were outdoing their thing, which was good to see.

Of the other movements, at the lighter end of the scale were these three. The first is the Akrotech Giles G200, ZK-LGT [resident in the Club's hanger], the second was a Mooney M20C, ZK-CKF, of a Christchurch address, and lastly, Cessna 421C Golden Eagle, ZK-MFT, registered to Skyline Aviation in Napier.

Other visitors to Wellington today

I spent most of today at the Aero Club, but unfortunately, due to the weather, it wasn't much good for flying... However, I did get to see a number of visitors [including the RNZAF B757 - previous post] coming and going.

The first two images are of a Kawasaki BK117 B2, ZK-IBK, registered to Skyline Aviation Ltd of a Napier address and used as a rescue helicopter/ air ambulance.

The next three are of a CTC Diamond DA42 Twinstar [also known as the "Death Star" in some circles...], ZK-CTM. This is pictured tied up for the evening and included my first opportunity to photograph the cockpit of one of these aircraft. The final picture is of an Aerospatiale AS350 BA, ZK-HZN, registered to Search and Rescue Services Ltd of a Taupo address. This is also used as a rescue helicopter/ air ambulance.

Enjoy the pictures!

More Wellington shots on the new camera

It's been another awesome weather day at Wellington today [I wonder how long this will last??!]. No flying for me today, but I did get to take a few photos - mainly just practicing with the new camera. As I mentioned last time, there's a lot to learn, but I'm learning a lot.

With good weather, the aero club was busy with the trainer aircraft busy most of the day, along with the Nanchang and a number of other flights. Ok, now to the pictures. Top to bottom are:

Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, ZK-MYH, registered to Air2There.com
DHC-8, ZK-NEZ, registered to Air Nelson [part of the Air NZ group]
Nanchang CJ6, ZK-JNA, registered to Wellington Aero Club
Beech BE77 Skipper, ZK-ESC, registered to Wellington Flight Training
Cessna 421C, ZK-MFT, registered to Skyline Aviation of Hastings * see below
Cessna 172N, ZK-ETK, registered to Mainland Air Services

* I've photographed ZK-MFT before, albeit with a completely different paint scheme. Click here to search for this aircraft.
