Ansett New Zealand mug :-)

Friday was "goodbye" to a colleague at work, who "bequeathed" me an Ansett NZ coffee mug! Nice!

To keep this post vaguely on topic :-), the 3rd level NZ blog has some very interesting historical information about Ansett NZ - click here for the info.

Anyway, here's the mug!

RNZAF Boeing 757's at Wellington

I arrived at the Aero Club this morning, in time to see both RNZAF Boeing 757-2K2's [registrations NZ7571 and NZ7572] on the western apron. It is very unusual to see both of these aircraft on the ground at Wellington at the same time.

The occasion was related to flying the Governor General and others to Christchurch for the military funerals of two soldiers killed in Afghanistan last Saturday.

A group of us from the Aero Club were privileged to be allowed on to the second aircraft [NZ7572] for a look around. Many thanks to the Flight Sergeant who took us around and explained what was what. It was much appreciated by all of us!

On to the pictures, starting with both aircraft on the apron, then into NZ7572 for a look. Following this are external pictures of each aircraft, then of NZ7571 taking off. Enjoy!

Airliners at Wellington today

Wellington airport is notoriously quiet during the weekends, so getting a variety of aircraft to spot can be quite hard. Having said that I am slowly working my way through the fleets of the main airlines that operate through here, so that is good.

Today's aircraft are:

Cessna 208B, ZK-MYH registered to Air2there.com
Raytheon B1900D, ZK-EAJ, registered to Eagle Airways
Boeing 737-319, ZK-NGH, registered to Air New Zealand
Boeing 737-838, ZK-ZQC, registered to Jetconnect [Qantas]
Airbus A320-232, VH-VGU, registered to Jetstar Airways
