Lancair ES

Another nice visitor to Wellington last Sunday was this Lancair ES, ZK-EDZ. This aircraft is registered to an Upper Moutere address.

The Lancair ES is an amateur built aircraft with a reputation for performance in a small package. With a 310Hp engine, cruise speed is around 190 knots. It apparently has a range of about 1200nm, which would be [just] enough for a direct trip from Auckland to Sydney in no-wind conditions [highly unlikely] or more practically, a one stop trip via Norfolk Island on the way over.

There's still a question about whether you'd want to, although it would probably be a lot of fun!

Lancair ES

Yesterday's interesting visitor was this Lancair ES, ZK-EDZ, which is registered to an Upper Moutere address.

The aircraft is an amateuir built aircraft, and from what I can see, it was imported from the USA around 2013/ 2014. It was first registerd in NZ in 2015.

As I noted the last time I saw this aircraft back in 2017, it's a fast aircraft with a cruise speed between 180 and 190 knots. I'm thinking it would be a fun machine to fly and a great way to go places!

Saturday's cool visitor

Last Saturday saw a Lancair ES arrive and park up outside the aero club for a few hours.

What a nice machine! the Lancair is an amateur built aircraft and carries 4 people. It looks very fast, and according to Wikipedia, it should be capable of cruising around 180-190 knots!

ZK-EDZ is registered to a Motueka address, and given I had just come back from my trip to D'Urville Island when it departed, I think they would have been in for a smooth, as well as fast, ride home. Nice paint job also :-)
