HBBPC 2020 - Various taildraggers

This is the first of three posts with some of the taildraggers at the HBBPC.

The STOL competition has three categories - microlight, light touring and heavy touring. Within these, many of the taildraggers may have had a slight advantage [except for the microlight category where those awesome Zenair CH701's took out the first 3 places], but it still comes down to pilot skill.

Anyway, on to the taildraggers.

First up is a Zlin Aviation Savage, ZK-KSC, registered to a Mairehau [Christchurch] address.

Next up is a SkyStar Kitfox IV, ZK-JFA, of a Kaiapoi address.

The next aircraft is a Titan T51 Mustang, ZK-TCV. Unlike some of the other T51's in the country, this one is registered as an amateur built aeroplane, instead of a microlight, due to its MUAW being over the microlight category. It has a beautiful finish on it and is pretty much local being registered to a Nelson address.

Last up for this post is a Murphy rebel, ZK-VAN, truly is local, being registered to a Blenheim address.

Brief visit to Wanganui Aero Club

Here are a few photos and a video of my brief visit to Wanganui this past weekend.

First up is a recently completed Titan T51 Mustang, ZK-LSD. This is a class 2 microlight and is still undergoing its test flying period. The aircraft has a 100hp Rotax engine. Check out the bottom of this post for a brief video of the startup.

The next two pictures are of an Air Chathams-operated General Dynamics Allison Convair 440/580, ZK-CIF. It looks like Air Chathams are going well in Whanganui, with a nearly full load of passengers hoping off this Sunday afternoon flight.

The final picture is an AESL Airtourer, ZK-LDG.

Here's the promised video. It's only about 35 seconds long but you get to listen to the "meaty" sound of the 100hp Rotax :-)

Ohakea Open Day # 14: Leftovers

"Leftovers" may be the title of the post, but "leftovers" can often taste good when reheated the next day :-)

These are a few pictures that remain from the series of pictures that I took on the Ohakea Open Day. These pictures include a Titan T-51 Mustang replica [actually a microlight category aircraft], one of the Kiwi Blue parachute display team, the Hughes 369 helicopter which performed an awesome display early in the day, the Kiwi Thunder Mustang taking off prior to its display, an Army LAV [Light Armoured Vehicle, not shorthand for Lavatory...!], and two more pictures of the Australian F-111 performing two passes, one with the wing in the swung back position.
