Harmon Rocket II
This slightly familiar but still unusual aircraft is a Harmon Rocket II, ZK-RMD. The Harmon Rocket II is an amateur built aircraft and from what I understand of the aircraft [which is very little...] is a modified version of the Vans RV4.

Harmon Rocket and the Terminal
Two recent Wellington photos... first a Harmon Rocket II refueling at the Aero Club, a night time photo of the Wellington International Airport terminal and lastly, proof that it doesn't always blow hard in Wellington :-)
From what I understand, the Harmon Rocket II [ZK-TWU] is essentially a modified RV4. This particular aircraft has a slightly modified Lycoming IO-540 in it. From memory, it went through around 90 litres of Avgas from Queenstown [NZQN] to Wellington [NZWN]. This would make it more fuel-efficient than a Cessna 172 over the same distance [and a lot quicker with a comfortable cruise approaching 200 knots!].
