As a brief interlude to my articles on the Remembrance Day flying display, I am watching the evening news and there's just been a brief story on an Air New Zealand Dash 8 Q300 that had an engine failure soon after takeoff from Napier, destination Wellington.
The flight crew diverted to Palmerston North and landed. Some of the passengers waited for another flight to Wellington, others went on a bus.
All good so far.
Some smart-ass reporter saw a passenger heading to the bus, and asked him:
"Safer on the bus, eh?"
To which the passenger replied:
"No! Flying is safer!"
Last thing we need are ignorant, smart-ass reporters running around trying to manufacture a response. Good on the passenger!
